Job Description

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next opportunity in heavy civil construction? Join a well-established, family-owned construction company specializing in large-scale earthmoving, complex underground utilities, heavy-duty demolition, and site development projects throughout the Midwest.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional who enjoys managing projects from pre-construction through completion, collaborating with field teams, and driving project performance. Please note: This position requires frequent travel and overnight stays based on project locations and scheduling needs.

What You'll Do

  • Manage multiple heavy civil construction projects from award through completion.
  • Assist with estimating, bid preparation, quantity takeoffs, and project planning.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Review construction plans and specifications to identify project requirements and potential challenges.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase requests, and project documentation.
  • Monitor job costs, labor, equipment utilization, and overall project profitability.
  • Coordinate daily with superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and customers.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting project cost, quality, safety, or schedule.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to company leadership.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure projects meet established expectations.

What We're Looking For

  • Ideally, 5–10 years of project management and/or estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction.
  • Experience with earthmoving, underground utilities, demolition, grading, or commercial site development.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction methods.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work extended hours when project demands require.
