Our client is an established commercial construction and site development firm with projects nationwide.
The Role
The BIM/VDC Modeler develops, coordinates, and maintains detailed BIM and VDC models across the full project lifecycle. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, design professionals, and field crews, you will turn project requirements into accurate digital models and technical drawings that support planning, design coordination, construction documentation, and field operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, renderings, and construction documentation using BIM and CAD software.
- Prepare construction documents, site plans, shop drawings, and other technical deliverables.
- Build and manage earthwork models for heavy equipment machine control, grading operations, and earthwork volume/quantity calculations.
- Perform clash detection, identify design conflicts, and coordinate resolutions with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate BIM/VDC activities from initial planning and design through construction and closeout, keeping model updates aligned with project schedules.
- Support construction and field teams by answering design questions and resolving modeling discrepancies.
- Provide drawings, models, and quantities to support proposals, estimates, bids, and presentations.
- Maintain thorough project documentation and look for ways to improve modeling and coordination processes.
What You Bring
- REQUIRED (non-negotiable): Civil experience with earthwork, dirt work, site work, and utilities
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications and translate them into accurate digital models.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Excellent organization and time management; able to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across departments and project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in a team.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
Preferred
- 1–5 years of experience in BIM/VDC modeling, design coordination, or a related technical discipline.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Autodesk Forma, Revizto, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Experience with BIM coordination, clash detection, and multidisciplinary model integration.
- Familiarity with site development, grading, earthwork modeling, and machine control applications.
- Experience supporting construction projects from design development through field implementation.
