Senior Tax Manager

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Overview

A well-established West Coast accounting and consulting firm is seeking a Tax Senior Manager in the Los Angeles area (other Southern California offices also considered). You will perform technical review of returns of any complexity, serve as a subject matter expert and own client service for assigned clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical tax review and approval of returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
• Serve as a subject matter expert in a discipline or industry
• Assume full responsibility for larger returns and delegate to preparers as needed
• Manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities as needed
• Develop staff through recruiting, performance evaluations and professional development instruction
• Ensure smooth, timely flow of returns through preparation and delivery, with accurate billing and collections
• Participate in practice development through referral sources and community and industry activities

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of public accounting experience with a proven progression in tax complexity, scope and research
• At least 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities
• At least 1 year supervising and directing the work of preparers
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation preferred
• Current, valid CPA license and AICPA membership required
• Proficiency in tax preparation, research and planning software
• Heavy overtime required January 1 to April 15
