Job Description

A well-established Chicago-area general contractor is looking for a Preconstruction Estimator to join its estimating team. You'll help price commercial, industrial and data center work from early design through bid day, working side by side with senior estimators, operations and project leadership.

What You'll Do

• Prepare quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates for commercial, industrial and data center projects
• Review drawings, specifications and bid documents to build accurate, competitive pricing
• Solicit, review and level subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Help develop conceptual budgets, value engineering options and alternates
• Support bid strategy and proposal preparation with the preconstruction team
• Hand off clean estimates and scope information to project teams at award

What You Bring

• 2+ years of commercial building estimating experience with a general contractor
• Working knowledge of takeoff and estimating software
• Solid understanding of building systems, construction methods and costs
• Detail-oriented, organized and comfortable working to bid deadlines
• Clear communication and a team-first approach
• A degree in construction management, engineering or a related field is a plus
