A well-established commercial general contractor in Dallas-Fort Worth is looking for a Director of Preconstruction – Mechanical to lead the mechanical side of its preconstruction group. You'll report to the VP of Preconstruction and own mechanical strategy, budgets and buyout on complex commercial projects from early design through handoff.
What You'll Do
• Lead mechanical preconstruction across a pipeline of large commercial projects, from conceptual budgets through buyout
• Build and review mechanical, plumbing and HVAC estimates and keep budgets aligned as design develops
• Evaluate systems options with owners and design teams and drive value engineering and constructability reviews
• Develop long-lead equipment and procurement strategy with trade partners
• Lead mechanical trade partner outreach, bid leveling and scope reviews
• Mentor estimators and partner with business development and operations on pursuits and clean handoffs
What You Bring
• 12+ years in construction, with 10+ years in commercial mechanical estimating or preconstruction
• Experience with a general contractor or mechanical contractor on large commercial work
• Strong cost knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems
• Comfort presenting budgets and options to owners, developers and design teams
• A collaborative leadership style and clear communication
