Job Description

FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

Lead the field. Set the standard. Build projects with a mission.

I’m partnering with a highly respected general contractor seeking a Federal Project Superintendent to lead military and government construction projects. This is an opportunity for a proven field leader who takes ownership, drives performance, and delivers work they’re proud to stand behind.

Must be willing to travel or relocate to assigned project sites.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You’ll take responsibility for field execution—coordinating trades, driving the schedule, maintaining a safe jobsite, and ensuring the finished work meets the expectations of the project team and government client. Your judgment, preparation, and leadership will directly influence how the project performs.

WHAT YOU’LL LEAD

  • Direct daily onsite operations from mobilization through punch list and final turnover.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, manpower, equipment, deliveries, and site logistics.
  • Develop and manage look-ahead schedules, identify constraints, and resolve issues before they disrupt progress.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to align field execution with project milestones, budget objectives, and contract requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality Control and Site Safety personnel to maintain consistent standards throughout construction.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate clear expectations for productivity, sequencing, safety, and workmanship.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate progress, changes, and field conditions.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Build productive relationships with government representatives, inspectors, design partners, and trade contractors.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Demonstrated success leading federal construction projects as a Superintendent.
  • Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or comparable federal agency projects.
  • Strong command of construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, drawings, specifications, and field problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with federal construction requirements, quality control procedures, and EM 385-1-1 safety standards.
  • The ability to manage complex work while maintaining accountability across multiple trades.
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and the confidence to address problems directly.
  • Ability to meet applicable project-specific background screening and installation access requirements.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites for the duration of assignments.
  • OSHA 30 and other relevant federal construction credentials preferred.

WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?

  • Lead substantial federal projects with a clear purpose.
  • Bring your field expertise to a contractor with deep federal construction experience.
  • Work alongside professionals who understand the coordination and discipline these projects demand.
  • Continue building your career through challenging assignments and broader project experience.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, per diem and travel package.
