Tax Manager
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Overview
A national tax, assurance and advisory CPA firm is seeking a Tax Manager for its Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This role delivers tax compliance and business advisory services to middle market clients, works side-by-side with firm leadership to serve clients and grow the business, and coaches a team of talented staff. The firm offers a clear career path and flexibility in how and where you work (hybrid).
Responsibilities
- Conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns, including federal and state filings
- Review and analyze client accounting records and reporting, provide analysis and consultation, and discuss accounting and business matters with clients
- Deliver responsive, timely, professional and accurate client service
- Manage and build client relationships, resolve client issues and help identify additional services for clients
- Delegate and oversee team work by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles and scheduling deadlines
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal tax practices and laws
- Help manage engagement staffing, billing and collections and meet client profitability targets
- Network and build strong relationships internally, with clients and in the community
- Coach and develop staff on technical and professional skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; master's or advanced degree desirable
- CPA or EA required (CPA, law license or Enrolled Agent at minimum)
- 5+ years of experience providing federal and state tax compliance, accounting and advisory services in a professional services firm
- 2+ years of supervisory experience mentoring and counseling associates
- Strong management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management and communication skills
- Highly developed software and Microsoft Office skills
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred
