Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney (Associate to Partner-Level)

Location: Irvine, CA
Work Arrangement: In-office, hybrid, or fully remote (must reside in California)

The Opportunity
A well-established litigation practice is seeking an Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. This role is open to mid-level associates (3+ years) as well as more senior attorneys, including junior partner or partner-level candidates. The firm is flexible on structure and compensation depending on experience, leadership capability, and any portable business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys sophisticated coverage work, values autonomy, and wants flexibility in how and where they work—without sacrificing challenging matters or career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle insurance coverage litigation matters from inception through resolution

  • Analyze and litigate coverage disputes involving CGL, professional liability, property, and related policies

  • Draft coverage opinions, pleadings, motions, and dispositive filings

  • Represent insurers in declaratory relief actions and related litigation

  • Collaborate with litigation teams and provide strategic guidance on coverage issues

  • (Senior-level) Mentor associates and contribute to practice growth and client development, as appropriate

Candidate Profile

  • 3+ years of insurance coverage litigation experience (associate level or higher)

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Experience handling coverage analysis and litigation independently

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California Bar

  • Senior candidates may be considered for elevated titles based on experience and leadership

  • Portable business not required, but candidates with a book will be considered at a higher compensation level

Compensation & Benefits

  • $160,000 – $240,000+ base compensation, depending on experience and level

  • Additional upside for candidates with portable business

  • Flexible work arrangements (in-office, hybrid, or remote)
