Commercial Estimator
Location: Stevens Point, WI
Company Overview:
A growing general contractor in central Wisconsin is looking for an Estimator to join its team. This contractor specializes in ground-up commercial projects including community facilities, retail spaces, educational buildings, healthcare clinics, and light industrial work. Responsibilities:
Prepare estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects, including take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope and identify potential issues or missing elements
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes
Collaborate with design, project management, and field teams to ensure cost estimates align with design intent and budget constraints
Assist with conceptual and schematic budget estimates
Maintain historical cost databases, track bid results vs estimates, and contribute to estimating accuracy over time
Support the preparation of proposal documents and presentations
Handle multiple estimating assignments with guidance and oversight
Requirements:
Some experience (even early career, e.g. internship, junior estimator or field estimating) in commercial construction estimating
Must have experience (or strong familiarity) with ground-up commercial projects
Strong ability to read plans and specifications, perform quantity take-offs
Comfortable working with estimating software, Excel, and handling cost data
Good communication and organizational skills; able to coordinate and follow through on multiple tasks
