Project Engineer

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Company Overview:
A well-established full-service commercial contractor in Milwaukee is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will support project managers and field staff by helping with technical planning, coordination, and execution of projects in sectors like commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. You’ll work in a collaborative environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency, while advancing your skills and responsibilities over time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist project managers in planning and coordinating project tasks, schedules, and resources

  • Prepare and review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical documentation

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, verify work quality, and ensure compliance with plans and specs

  • Help manage changes, document issues, and facilitate communication between field and office

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, and internal teams to address technical and logistical challenges

  • Support cost tracking, updating logs, and assist in maintaining project budgets

  • Contribute to safety planning and help enforce safety protocols on site

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Engineer, or similar role within commercial/institutional construction

  • Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and construction means & methods

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in project management or construction software, and Microsoft Office tools

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow direction, and take initiative
