Job Title: Safety Director – Structural Steel Erection

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Safety Director to lead and manage the safety operations of our structural steel erection projects. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of direct experience in structural steel erection, with a proven track record on large-scale projects exceeding 2,000 tons. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs to ensure compliance with AISC standards, OSHA regulations, and internal policies across all job sites.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and site-specific safety plans.

  • Ensure strict adherence to AISC, OSHA, and company safety standards and regulations.

  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

  • Serve as the company’s lead on all safety matters including incident investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.

  • Provide safety training to all employees, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and annual refresher courses.

  • Maintain all safety records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Lead the company’s OSHA compliance efforts, including facilitating OSHA 500/510 level training and serving as OSHA Train the Trainer.

  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to ensure safe practices and effective communication on all job sites.

  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of safety experience in structural steel erection projects over 2,000 tons.

  • In-depth knowledge of AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards.

  • Certified as:

    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)

    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • OSHA credentials:

    • OSHA 510 – Standards for the Construction Industry

    • OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry

    • OSHA Train the Trainer
