Accounts Payable Clerk – Construction

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a well-established and growing commercial roofing contractor, is looking to add an Accounts Payable Clerk to their accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in construction accounting who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing a high volume of invoices across multiple projects. Prior experience in commercial roofing or general construction accounting is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests

  • Match invoices to job cost codes and confirm materials or services received

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies promptly

  • Maintain accurate and organized A/P records and files

  • Communicate with vendors, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate payments

  • Manage compliance documentation including lien waivers and W-9s

  • Support monthly closeout activities and reporting as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience (construction industry required, preferred in commercial roofing)

  • Familiarity with construction job cost accounting and project-based billing

  • Experience using accounting/ERP systems

  • Strong Excel and data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and organization

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Knowledge of lien waivers, vendor compliance, and subcontractor paperwork is a plus
