Accounts Payable Clerk – Construction
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a well-established and growing commercial roofing contractor, is looking to add an Accounts Payable Clerk to their accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in construction accounting who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing a high volume of invoices across multiple projects. Prior experience in commercial roofing or general construction accounting is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and verify vendor invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests
Match invoices to job cost codes and confirm materials or services received
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies promptly
Maintain accurate and organized A/P records and files
Communicate with vendors, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate payments
Manage compliance documentation including lien waivers and W-9s
Support monthly closeout activities and reporting as needed
Qualifications:
2+ years of accounts payable experience (construction industry required, preferred in commercial roofing)
Familiarity with construction job cost accounting and project-based billing
Experience using accounting/ERP systems
Strong Excel and data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and organization
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Knowledge of lien waivers, vendor compliance, and subcontractor paperwork is a plus
