We are actively seeking an experienced and motivated Appellate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of appellate practice and is looking to expand their knowledge within the field.
Pay Range $150,000 - $200,000 DOE
This role is full-time and is on-site at our New York City office in downtown Manhattan.
Key Responsibilities
- Write affirmative summary judgment motions on labor law, motor vehicle accident, and premises cases.
- Oppose summary judgment motions on labor law, motor vehicle accident, and premises cases.
- Write and oppose motions in limine.
- Handle all aspects of the firm’s appellate practice.
- Collaborate with trial attorney on case strategy and issue development
- Conduct in-depth legal research on liability, damages, and procedural issues
- Maintain positive and professional relations with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel through strong communication and professional conduct.
Education and Experience
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.
- 3+ years of legal writing and motion practice experience. Law review and/or journal experience preferred.
- Admitted to practice in NY required.
- Strong background in legal research and brief writing.
- Experience with New York motion practice required; appellate experience preferred.
- Prior personal injury or civil litigation experience is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and case management systems. Experience with Filevine is a plus!
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
