Job Title: Financial Controller/CFO - Construction
The Construction Financial Controller is currently highest-ranking position in our accounting department, reporting to the CEO. This role manages all financial operations and leads a team of four direct reports. With company growth planned, the Financial Controller will transition to the CFO role, with additional reports hired to support expansion.
Oversee accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and job costing, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including WIP reports and cash flow projections.
Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
Manage and mentor a team of four accounting professionals.
Use Viewpoint accounting software to streamline processes and ensure data accuracy.
Apply advanced Excel skills for financial models, dashboards, and analyses.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and internal controls.
Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights and support project profitability.
Prepare for transition to CFO role through strategic initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience
Expertise in Viewpoint accounting software.
Advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of construction financial processes, including job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
Strong desire to grow into CFO role.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
