Job Description

Position Purpose: To actively provide focused leadership of the sales, design, and construction of post frame construction buildings (Pole Barns).  Will also drive ongoing growth through development and execution of sales and relationships with both in-house and independent building crews.  Results will be demonstrated through a healthy culture, effective operations, satisfied customers, and growth of revenue and profitability.

    Primary Role Expectations

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the company including sales, marketing, operations, purchasing, pricing, customer service, safety, and administrative activities
  • Proactively solve problems and communicate with leadership, affiliates, and external partners
  • Develop a personal growth plan to support and growth with company initiatives and personal goal.
  • Sales
    • Develop a sales strategy and implement initiatives to grow the business by serving existing clients and new key demographics
    • Determine margins and pricing strategies
    • Report market activities by monitoring and analyzing competitive price lists and products
    • Develop and maintain relationships with clients; ensure quality client service through continuous personal interaction; handle large volume client accounts as required
    • Lead the team to generate leads, qualify prospects, manage sales and meet with customers in the field to discuss needs and to assess the quality of relationship
    • Provide on-the-ground support for sales associates as they generate leads and close new deals
  • Operations
    • Lead the operations team leads to create and implement policies and procedures to provide consistent guidance to functional teams while establishing a team oriented, customer service philosophy and supportive working environment
    • Know and understand current industry information to recommend manufacturing techniques and machinery
    • Monitor operations to ensure that the team adheres to delivery timelines; recommend adjustments to the production process
    • Ensure inspection and measuring of products for quality purposes; discuss inspection results with those responsible for producing products 
  • Planning and Metrics
    • Establish sales and financial goals for the company in coordination with headquarter leadership and plan and direct all functions to meet these goals
    • Work with the Controller to prepare the budget; measure and manage sales, revenue and operating costs to increase profitability
    • Develop and implement a sales optimization plan with monthly goals and updates
    • Implement initiatives to fulfill the annual optimization plan with monthly changes and updates
    • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of sales metrics
    • Ensure process documentation is routinely updated
  • Community
    • Motivate and manage personnel to meet operational and financial goals
    • Create unity by working with all employees and stakeholders to meet needs and improve processes
    • Conduct regular management team meetings for information, discussion, and action for planning, strategy, forecasting and operations
    • Encourage managers to optimize and innovate processes and products
    • Select, assign, and develop staff; conduct performance reviews; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
    • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
    • Know each employee by name, demonstrate care and trust and build relationships as applicable

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or industry-related field is desired
  • Strong hands-on operational business acumen and experience with P&L responsibility with effective people and management skills
  • 5+ years of applicable, industry, leadership and business development experience
  • Strong knowledge in the sales of post frame construction buildings (Pole Barns)
  • Sales and financial background with an ability to generate organic growth
  • Experience and proven ability to implement effective systems, processes, and metrics
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with diverse individuals from executives to floor employees
  • Entrepreneurial thinker, visionary with strategic planning skills
  • Strong language, mathematical, and reasoning skills
  • Ability to hold antithetical positions in tension while examining all possibilities before choosing a course of action
  • Proficient with Office Productivity Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn and use ERP systems
  • Valid driver's license and record of the appropriate type and class to operate company vehicles
