Senior Project Manager – Healthcare Construction

Well-Established General Contractor | Chicago

A highly respected commercial general contractor in Chicago is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale and complex healthcare construction projects. This company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work in active healthcare environments and maintains a consistent backlog with repeat clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through completion

  • Manage project budgets, cost controls, and forecasting

  • Oversee subcontractor procurement and contract administration

  • Direct and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers

  • Maintain strong client relationships and lead project communication

  • Manage change orders, RFIs, and submittals to ensure project accuracy

  • Coordinate closely with field leadership to maintain schedule and quality standards

  • Participate in preconstruction planning, value engineering, and risk management

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and project specifications

Qualifications

  • 8–15+ years of experience in commercial construction project management

  • Healthcare construction experience strongly preferred (hospitals, medical office buildings, or specialty clinics)

  • Proven experience managing large or complex projects

  • Strong leadership and team development skills

  • Excellent budgeting and cost management experience

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications

  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore or similar platforms

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
