Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Associate to help drive growth and expand our footprint across target markets. This role is ideal for a candidate on the "greener side" with 3–5 years of experience—either from a general contractor (GC) background or a project manager/estimator with strong field and preconstruction experience looking to transition into a client-facing business development role.

You will be responsible for building relationships with new and existing customers, identifying opportunities, and supporting the sales cycle from prospecting through proposal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop relationships with key stakeholders at general contractors, developers, and end-users.

  • Support strategic growth initiatives through market research, lead generation, and CRM tracking.

  • Attend industry events, customer meetings, and project kickoffs to build trust and understand client needs.

  • Collaborate with estimating and project management teams to develop proposals and support pre-bid efforts.

  • Travel as needed to Detroit HQ for internal meetings and to client/project sites across key markets.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitors, and industry opportunities.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 3–5 years of experience in construction or steel-related roles (GC, steel erector/fabricator, or allied industries).

  • Background in Project Management or Estimating is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to grow accounts over time.

  • Comfortable with remote work and flexible to travel for business development needs.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow into a long-term strategic sales role.

  • Self-starter with a passion for the built environment and understanding of construction workflows.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary: $120,000–$150,000 (based on experience)

  • Performance-based commission (low-risk, incentive-aligned structure)
