Tax Senior — Los Angeles, CA

We're hiring an experienced Tax Senior to take on a leadership role within our public accounting practice in Los Angeles. You'll own complex engagements, mentor junior staff, and work directly with clients — all while building toward a manager track.
Key functions
- Lead preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, and trusts
- Drive tax planning and advisory discussions with clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liability
- Conduct and oversee technical tax research on complex federal and multi-state issues; deliver clear, actionable memos
- Manage engagement workflow, budgets, and deadlines across multiple concurrent client files
- Supervise, review, and mentor Tax Associates — providing real-time feedback and development guidance
- Lead IRS and state audit responses, notice resolution, and client correspondence
- Collaborate with partners and managers on business development, proposals, and client relationship management
- Stay current on evolving tax law changes and communicate relevant impacts to clients and internal teams
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of tax experience in public accounting required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's in Taxation a plus
- CPA license required or near completion
- Strong command of federal and California state tax law across multiple entity types
- Proven ability to independently manage engagements and meet deadlines under pressure
- Experience with tax software such as ProConnect, GoSystem, or CCH Axcess
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop junior staff
- Excellent client-facing communication and relationship management skills
