We’re partnering with a highly respected, growth-focused financial institution that’s seeking an experienced leader to oversee its collections and recovery operations. This is a confidential search for an Assistant Vice President of Collections—ideal for someone who brings a strong mix of leadership, process oversight, and regulatory compliance in the lending and collections space.
This institution is nearing the $1B asset mark, has a rock-solid balance sheet, and is deeply rooted in its community. They’re ready to bring on someone who can elevate their collections performance and lead a high-impact team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead and develop the internal collections team while managing external partners (e.g., recovery agencies, legal support, etc.)
Oversee all collections strategies across consumer, credit card, auto, and real estate loan portfolios
Monitor portfolio performance and delinquency trends; deliver reporting and strategic insights to senior leadership
Strengthen and streamline collections policies, risk controls, and documentation procedures
Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards including FDCPA, NCUA, CECL, and CFPB guidelines
Handle escalated cases and lead charge-off and repossession processes when necessary
Collaborate cross-functionally with lending, risk, and operations leaders to drive portfolio health and member experience
What They’re Looking For:
5+ years of progressive experience in collections, loss mitigation, or credit risk management
3+ years leading teams in a financial services setting (community bank experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and lending operations
Experience using data to drive collection strategies and process improvement
Skilled communicator, team builder, and problem solver—able to lead with empathy and accountability
Bachelor’s degree required; relevant certifications or advanced degrees a plus
