Job Description

We’re partnering with a highly respected, growth-focused financial institution that’s seeking an experienced leader to oversee its collections and recovery operations. This is a confidential search for an Assistant Vice President of Collections—ideal for someone who brings a strong mix of leadership, process oversight, and regulatory compliance in the lending and collections space.

This institution is nearing the $1B asset mark, has a rock-solid balance sheet, and is deeply rooted in its community. They’re ready to bring on someone who can elevate their collections performance and lead a high-impact team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and develop the internal collections team while managing external partners (e.g., recovery agencies, legal support, etc.)

  • Oversee all collections strategies across consumer, credit card, auto, and real estate loan portfolios

  • Monitor portfolio performance and delinquency trends; deliver reporting and strategic insights to senior leadership

  • Strengthen and streamline collections policies, risk controls, and documentation procedures

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards including FDCPA, NCUA, CECL, and CFPB guidelines

  • Handle escalated cases and lead charge-off and repossession processes when necessary

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with lending, risk, and operations leaders to drive portfolio health and member experience

What They’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in collections, loss mitigation, or credit risk management

  • 3+ years leading teams in a financial services setting (community bank experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and lending operations

  • Experience using data to drive collection strategies and process improvement

  • Skilled communicator, team builder, and problem solver—able to lead with empathy and accountability

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant certifications or advanced degrees a plus
