PROJECT ARCHITECT – DESIGN-BUILD
Location: Milwaukee, WI | Salary: $110,000–$130,000 DOE
A well-established design-build organization is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join its team in Milwaukee, WI. This individual will work directly with owners during the initial design process, translate their vision into practical and functional designs, and develop detailed construction drawings that align with project requirements, budgets, zoning, and building codes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with owners to discuss project goals, design preferences, functionality, and initial concepts
- Listen to client needs and translate ideas into practical, buildable designs
- Develop preliminary sketches, design concepts, and complete architectural drawing packages
- Prepare detailed construction documents with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements
- Balance design intent with constructability, functionality, budget, and project timelines
- Collaborate with internal design, engineering, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate design revisions and resolve issues as projects progress from concept through construction
- Maintain clear communication with owners and project stakeholders throughout the design process
- Ensure drawings are complete, coordinated, and ready for construction
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Architecture or a related fieldProfessional architectural experience, preferably in a design-build environment
- Strong understanding of building codes, zoning requirements, and code compliance
- Ability to meet with owners, listen effectively, sketch concepts, and communicate design ideas
- Experience producing complete, detailed architectural drawings and construction documents
- Strong understanding of constructability and practical design solutions without unnecessary overdesign
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $110,000–$130,000, depending on experience
