Confidential Opportunity – Project Engineer (Automation & Controls)
Location: Tea, SD (Travel as needed) Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift Compensation: Competitive Base + Bonus + Full Benefits
A growing, well-established industrial automation and manufacturing solutions provider is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and deliver custom and standard automation projects for industrial customers.
This role blends hands-on engineering expertise with project management responsibility. The ideal candidate will have experience in controls, robotics, and system integration, along with the ability to manage projects from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop automation systems, controls architectures, and technical documentation
Create/review electrical schematics, PLC/HMI programs, and system layouts
Integrate robotics, motion control, vision systems, and industrial networks
Manage full project lifecycle: scope, scheduling, budgeting, risk mitigation
Oversee system integration, FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning
Serve as primary technical liaison with customers
Lead project update meetings and manage scope changes
Ensure systems meet safety, quality, and performance standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related)
3+ years of experience in automation, controls, or project engineering
Hands-on PLC/HMI experience
Robotics experience (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, etc.)
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools
Experience managing industrial or manufacturing projects
Knowledge of NFPA, ISO, OSHA safety standards
