Senior Associate – Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional Law
A well-established and reputable law firm in Cleveland is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join its Estate Planning, Probate & Transactional Department. This department includes a team of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. The position is ideal for a dedicated legal professional looking for partnership opportunities within 3–5 years, based on performance and firm contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft estate planning documents including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced directives.
- Advise clients on income, estate, and gift tax implications of various planning strategies.
- Manage commercial and residential real estate transactions including purchase agreements, leases, land installment contracts, deeds, and easements.
- Handle trust and probate administration matters with minimal supervision.
- Maintain and manage own case docket efficiently and independently.
- Collaborate with attorneys in litigation and domestic relations departments.
- Take on firm leadership responsibilities and actively engage in firm-wide initiatives.
- Participate in business development and marketing efforts to grow the firm’s client base.
Desired Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- 5–7 years of experience in estate planning and probate administration; transactional experience preferred.
- Familiarity with court probate procedures and legal compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail and accountability in managing legal matters.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to also work independently.
- A portable book of business is preferred but not required.
