Small Engine Mechanic Needed! in Syracuse

Job Description

We are working with a great client who is searching for a skilled and dependable Ag Small Engine Mechanic with a strong focus on lawn and turf equipment, particularly commercial and residential mowers. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engine equipment to ensure peak performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair small gasoline and diesel engines, primarily on zero-turn, riding, and walk-behind mowers

  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, blade replacement, belt adjustments, and tune-ups

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic components

  • Repair or replace engines, carburetors, starters, PTO systems, and drive components

  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections and equipment setup

  • Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate repair timelines

  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working on small engines or turf equipment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills

  • Experience with mower brands and turf equipment preferred

  • Ability to read service manuals and schematics

  • Basic computer skills for work orders and parts lookup

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Agricultural or outdoor power equipment background

  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting

  • Technical certifications a plus
