As we expand our team, we are seeking a seasoned Director of Safety to join our Phoenix, AZ office. This is a leadership role where you will be responsible for driving strategic safety initiatives and ensuring a proactive safety culture across all projects.


Job Summary:
The Director of Safety will provide strategic leadership and guidance in creating and maintaining a robust safety culture within the company. You will be responsible for proactive risk management, safety program development, compliance, and continuous improvement across all job sites. This is a senior-level role that requires a combination of strategic thinking, leadership, and hands-on management. As the Director of Safety, you will ensure that all construction operations are conducted in compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the company's safety program, focusing on risk mitigation, injury prevention, and continuous improvement across all construction projects.
  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company safety goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership in safety planning, including the development and execution of safety initiatives and training programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and address safety concerns proactively.
  • Ensure that all safety programs are up to date and reflect the latest industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Provide ongoing safety training, education, and mentoring for project teams, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior management on safety-related issues, providing guidance and recommendations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Foster a safety-first culture by promoting employee engagement and collaboration in safety activities.
  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents and near misses, ensuring thorough reporting, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, external safety experts, and clients to maintain compliance and ensure the best safety practices are being followed.
  • Manage safety performance metrics and ensure that safety goals are met or exceeded across all projects.
  • Serve as the company’s primary contact for safety-related matters, including audits, inspections, and legal issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles within the safety field, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs and leading organizational safety initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, risk management, and construction site safety protocols.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and OSHA 500 Trainer.
  • Experience in managing safety programs for large-scale, multi-disciplinary construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve safety performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
