Insurance Defense / Litigation Attorney

We are partnered with a law firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan, seeking a full-time Insurance Defense/Litigation Attorney with at least one year of experience to join its growing practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with an entrepreneurial mindset who is interested in building a practice within a collaborative, small-firm environment.

Position Overview

• Full-time, in-office position
• Practice areas include insurance defense, probate litigation, and business litigation
• Opportunity to grow and develop a diverse litigation practice

Key Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense and other civil litigation matters
• Manage all phases of litigation from inception through resolution
• Develop case strategy and advise clients on legal options and risk
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, and memoranda
• Prepare and respond to written discovery
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and trials
• Support clients with non-litigation legal needs as required

Qualifications

• At least one year of legal practice experience
• Experience in insurance defense and civil litigation preferred
• Trial experience is a plus
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage cases independently and collaboratively
• Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in practice development

Licensure & Education

• Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan
• Strong academic credentials required
