Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves developing safety protocols, conducting audits, facilitating training, and supporting risk management initiatives in alignment with federal and state regulations. The EHS Coordinator plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain health and safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication (SDS updates and training), Machine Guarding, and Slip, Trip, and Fall prevention.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, incident investigations, and compliance audits; prepare detailed reports and present findings to management.
  • Design and deliver training programs for employees and management on safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage risk mitigation activities to ensure a safe workplace environment.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs of workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Assist with new employee orientation and annual refresher training programs.
  • Lead monthly safety committee meetings and coordinate Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes.
  • Support supervisors and managers in emergency preparedness efforts.
  • Promote and practice good safety work habits while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in an EHS-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA and MSHA requirements.
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable with the ability to handle interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing safety programs and conducting training.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, and bend as needed throughout the workday.
  • Capability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust exposure, and outdoor elements.

Work Environment: This role involves both office and manufacturing settings, requiring regular interaction with employees at all levels to ensure compliance and promote a safe workplace.
