Overview
A growing development and construction organization is seeking a detail-oriented Site Development Accountant to support land development and horizontal construction projects. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who understands job costing, project financial tracking, and the unique financial structures tied to sitework, infrastructure, and development phases.
This position works closely with project managers, land development teams, and leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control throughout the lifecycle of site development projects.
Responsibilities
Manage accounting functions related to site development and horizontal construction projects
Track job costs, budgets, and committed costs for land development projects
Process and review accounts payable related to subcontractors, utilities, grading, paving, and infrastructure work
Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and project reporting
Monitor development budgets and provide variance analysis
Support draw requests and lender reporting as needed
Maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and GAAP
Collaborate with project managers to resolve cost discrepancies and forecast financial performance
Qualifications
3–7+ years of accounting experience in construction, land development, or real estate
Strong understanding of job costing and project-based accounting
Proficiency in construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, Timberline, QuickBooks, or similar)
Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting best practices
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
