Location: Ohio
A respected heavy civil contractor in Ohio is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Bridge Superintendent to lead DOT bridge construction projects. This role is responsible for managing all on-site operations while ensuring full compliance with Ohio DOT specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
The Superintendent is the primary on-site authority responsible for DOT compliance, field execution, and coordination of all bridge construction activities.
• Oversee all phases of DOT bridge construction, including concrete, structural steel, foundations, and related civil scopes
• Enforce ODOT safety standards, project-specific safety plans, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure strict adherence to ODOT specifications, plans, special provisions, and inspection requirements
• Develop and maintain project schedules, including two-week lookahead planning aligned with DOT milestones
• Coordinate DOT inspections, testing, and documentation requirements
• Manage and coordinate labor crews, equipment, subcontractors, and material deliveries
• Lead daily field operations and conduct weekly foreman meetings focused on production, safety, and quality
• Maintain effective working relationships with ODOT inspectors, engineers, owners, and regulatory agencies
• Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience on DOT bridge projects
• Strong working knowledge of ODOT bridge specifications, drawings, and construction procedures
• Proven experience managing public works bridge projects in Ohio
• Ability to coordinate inspection hold points, testing, and documentation
• Civil Engineering or construction-related degree preferred, but not required
