VDC Engineer
Location: Madison, WI
Company Overview:
A respected general contractor in the Madison market is seeking a VDC Engineer to support and expand their technology-driven approach to building. With a strong track record in healthcare, education, civic, and commercial projects, this firm integrates innovation, collaboration, and precision to deliver complex, high-impact projects across the region.
Responsibilities:
Create, manage, and coordinate 3D/BIM models for preconstruction and active projects
Collaborate with design teams, project managers, and field staff to ensure constructability and resolve conflicts before they reach the job site
Support estimating, scheduling, and logistics planning using model-based workflows
Conduct clash detection and provide actionable reports to improve coordination among trades
Participate in project team meetings, presenting model insights to clients and stakeholders
Develop and maintain VDC execution plans tailored to specific projects
Research and implement emerging technologies and processes to strengthen the company’s VDC capabilities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
1–4 years of experience in a VDC/BIM or construction technology role
Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and other modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
Understanding of construction methods, project sequencing, and coordination processes
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to support both office and field teams
Innovative mindset with a passion for leveraging technology in construction
