The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading quality assurance initiatives to ensure products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations. This position also interacts with our internal customers to provide guidance on external customers’ requirements. This role drives continuous improvement, supports production and engineering teams, and provides technical leadership in problem-solving, compliance, and process optimization. The Senior Quality Engineer serves as a key partner in maintaining a culture of quality across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for operating/functioning reflective of the company's Quality Management System and customer certifications/flow downs relevant to the position.
· Responsible for providing leadership, communicating the plan, providing feedback, and identifying/assisting in solving issues.
· Supports company policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and good manufacturing practices.
· Drives continuous improvement measurables that effectively support meeting or exceeding company objectives and goals.
· Assists with root cause investigation and corrective action plans.
· Assist in developing plant layout by planning the rearrangement of facilities, equipment, and operations for the best utilization of resources.
· Identify – Research – Design – Implement new processes, technology, methods, and manufacturing equipment to improve process flow, increase capacity, improve quality and reduce production flow inhibitors.
· Identifies and implements opportunities to improve the value stream and leads 5S within the company.
· Drives and implements continuous improvements through lean tools, researching new technology, industry data, and developing resources to remove/manage the eight wastes.
· Support other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· A four-year degree and/or five or more years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
· ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and at least 5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role or closely related field preferred.
· Strong understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Experience with audits, compliance, and process validation.
· Practical understanding and proficiency in engineering drawing interpretation to include GD&T requirements
· Understanding and application knowledge of statistical methods, including SPC, MSA, and machine capability studies
· Individual must be able to work with little to no supervision after the initial training period, showing a high degree of initiative and self-motivation. Must demonstrate consistently being a good example of providing informal leadership and an excellent work ethic
· Excellent communication, documentation, technical leadership, and organizational skills. Must possess strong computer skills, with experience in Word, Excel, and other Windows-based software. Must be able to accurately and efficiently generate instructions, reports, etc.
· The ability to teach and train others in a coach or mentor role as needed
· Must be able to maintain confidentiality of customer and company information
Work Conditions
This is a day shift position. It can be anticipated that some activities may require daily or weekend scheduling requirements, as well as night shift assignments such as training, audits, etc. It may also include travel with overnight stays. This position will interact with both internal and external customers, as well as suppliers.
