Job Description

Confidential Employment Attorney Opportunity — Boston, MA (Hybrid)

A well-established Boston law firm with a strong employer-side practice is seeking a mid- to senior-level Employment Attorney to join its growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys advising management, solving workplace problems, and working directly with clients on a wide range of employment issues.

This opening is the result of practice expansion, and the incoming attorney will step into a steady workflow with the support of a collaborative group and a flexible, hybrid work schedule.

About the Role

The attorney will handle a variety of employer-side counseling and advisory matters, including:

  • Employment compliance and risk mitigation

  • Drafting and reviewing handbooks, policies, and employment-related agreements

  • Addressing performance and disciplinary issues

  • Guiding employers through leave and accommodation matters

  • Wage and hour issues

  • Agency responses and proceedings

  • Day-to-day counseling on workplace best practices

The practice moves quickly, so the ability to manage multiple matters, pivot between issues, and communicate clearly with clients is important.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • 5–8 years of management-side employment law experience

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and counseling skills

  • Familiarity with state and federal employment laws

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues in practical terms

  • Sound judgment and the confidence to make decisions

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Required:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Active Massachusetts bar admission in good standing

Preferred (not required):

  • Executive compensation experience

  • Nonprofit/employer client experience

  • Traditional labor law exposure

Compensation & Structure

  • Hybrid work environment

  • Flexible billable-hours goal

  • Competitive base salary

  • Bonus opportunities for hours above the target

  • Exceptional benefits package

This is a strong role for an attorney who wants to continue building a practice, deepen client relationships, and grow toward a more senior position over time.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Stable, long-standing client relationships

  • Supportive culture with strong partner accessibility

  • High-quality employer-side work

  • Growth-driven opening (not a backfill)

  • Real potential to increase responsibility and visibility within the group
