Estimator - Structural Steel

Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel and vertical construction projects. This role requires a keen eye for detail, technical knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to analyze blueprints and specifications. Preference will be given to candidates with structural steel experience, and the ideal candidate will bring 1-5 years of relevant estimating experience to deliver reliable project bids and support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to develop detailed cost estimates for structural steel and vertical construction projects.
  • Calculate material takeoffs, labor costs, equipment needs, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to gather pricing and scope information.
  • Prepare bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements and deadlines.
  • Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures during the estimating process.
  • Maintain an organized database of historical cost data and supplier pricing for future reference.
  • Assist in scope clarification and negotiations with clients or subcontractors as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support during project handoff to ensure a smooth transition to the execution phase.

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong preference for structural steel experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Highly preferred: Experience with AutoCAD for reviewing and analyzing project drawings.
  • Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, or similar tools).
  • Basic understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection processes, or vertical construction methods.
