Laser & CNC Machining Technician

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Laser & CNC Machining Technician to join its production team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating laser cutting and other fabrication equipment while ensuring work is completed accurately, safely, and according to production specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining experience, proficiency with Mastercam, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a high level of attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate laser cutting equipment.
  • Operate rollers, brake presses, machine polishers, and other equipment used in metal fabrication.
  • Read, interpret, and verify blueprints, drawings, measurements, and job documentation.
  • Program CNC equipment using Mastercam.
  • Apply knowledge of 3D, multi-axis machining, and SolidWorks within Mastercam.
  • Stay current with software updates and technology related to laser cutting and CNC equipment.
  • Work closely with project managers, shop leadership, drafters, and production team members to ensure accuracy and successful completion of jobs.
  • Understand and follow established job and machine processes.
  • Monitor and manage material inventory for assigned machines.
  • Follow production direction and priorities provided by shop leadership.
  • Inspect work and verify dimensions and specifications to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production or machining issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic upkeep of machines and equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machining experience required.
  • 1+ year of Mastercam experience required.
  • Proficiency programming CNC equipment using Mastercam.
  • Knowledge of 3D and multi-axis machining and SolidWorks within Mastercam.
  • Completion of a machining or CNC program from an accredited technical or trade school preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements.
  • Strong understanding of machining and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a production team.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on manufacturing environment involving the operation of industrial machinery and fabrication equipment. The position may involve exposure to typical shop noise and requires adherence to workplace safety procedures.
