Job Description

gpac is working with a manufacturing company, in central NY state, that's looking for a Plant Finance Controller to work on a cross-functional management team(including 5 direct reports).

Major Responsibilities: Prepare monthly journal entries. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. Perform monthly account reconciliations. Provide support for the preparation, review and analysis of company financial statements during the semi-annual and annual audits including resolution of auditor inquiries and the compilation of required records, schedules and information requests. Authorize weekly ACH direct deposits for employee payroll. Perform analysis of inventory balances at month end to ensure proper transaction processing. (Material Usage Variance Report) Complete Tax Returns for sales & use tax, highway use tax, and international fuel tax agreement monthly and quarterly as required. Compile data and complete required government reports quarterly and annually. Perform various special projects and analyses as requested by management. Assist with the monthly and + annual physical inventory. Background with Fixed Assets and depreciation. Lead the yearly budgeting process for the plant, and for each department and making sure departments are staying in budgeting. Provide leadership, guidance, and support in reviewing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual results and forecasts.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business administration including extensive coursework in Accounting and Finance.

Experience: Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems, have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and analytical skills. Requires deadline-driven, high-energy individual, able to work autonomously and lead as key contributor on teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal skills are a must, as well as a willingness to accept and task ownership of new responsibilities in a fast-growing environment.

Skills/Knowledge: Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Organizing and prioritizing Highly motivated and able to work well under deadlines. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical for this position.
