Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. This position will play a critical role in driving new business opportunities and managing key client relationships. The role requires a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and the ability to engage effectively with engineering and strategic sourcing teams at major OEMs and industry leaders. This individual will lead efforts in New Product Introduction (NPI), prototyping, and expansion of existing production parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets (industrial, aerospace and defense, medical, and computer electronics), focusing on sheet metal products, CNC machining, metal stampings, and high-level assemblies.
- Customer Engagement: Work closely with customers' engineering teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and prototype development, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and timelines.
- Existing Account Development: Build and nurture long-term relationships with customers’ sourcing groups to win existing production parts and increase production volume.
- Solution Selling: Leverage a deep understanding of manufacturing capabilities to provide solutions tailored to the specific needs of our clients' projects.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including engineering, production, purchasing, and quality, to ensure the smooth transition from concept to production, while managing customer expectations.
- Market Research & Strategy: Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to inform business development strategies and positioning.
- Sales & Profitability Targets: Meet or exceed sales and profitability targets by closing deals with both new and existing customers.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and pipeline updates, providing regular reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, account management, or sales within manufacturing, preferably in the sheet metal, CNC machining, or metal fabrication industries.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to engage engineering teams and discuss complex manufacturing projects.
- Proven track record of success in business development and managing customer relationships with OEMs or industry leaders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
