The Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of engineering strategies in order to achieve production, quality, and customer satisfaction goals. This position will lead a team of engineers, CAD technicians, and detailers. This position will report to the General Manager.
The job requirements include but are not limited to the following:
Primary Role Expectations
- Promote the company mission, purpose, and core values in all activities and duties
- Develop the strategic direction for the engineering team to drive organic growth while maintaining profitability and maximizing resources
- Lead and develop a high-performance engineering team including appropriate goalsetting, performance management and establishment of production metrics to ensure overall goals are achieved
- Analyze and understand industry technologies to develop solutions and strategies to improve KPI’s and profitability
- Work with leadership as well as internal and external resources to ensure delivery of customer expectations and quality product
Engineering/Operations-
- Develop an engineering strategy and implement initiatives for the team to grow the business by achieving production and quality goals.
- Partner with outside vendors to achieve production goals. This includes the development of vendors to increase throughput into operations.
- Own the overall engineering process and execution including aiding in process improvements through the enhancements being made to our MBS software to ensure faster turnaround time for drawings and deliverables to operations
- Lead and assist in optimizing the full engineering process from contract generation through building completion including areas such as engineering, detailing, vendor relations, etc. to drive speed to production and an improved overall customer experience
- Train and develop the engineering teams through effective design, CAD, and detailing skills development, performance management, and succession planning including conducting engineering team meetings as well as individual 1:1s
- Focus on enhancing and developing an improved recruiting and onboarding program for detailers, designers, and CAD techs, prioritizing the needs for succession planning of existing engineering staff
- Provide on-the-ground support for sales and operations
Planning and Business Intelligence-
- Partner with GM to establish sales and financial goals for the company in coordination with Ambassador Supply leadership and plan and direct the engineering team to meet these goals o Develop and implement an engineering optimization plan with monthly goals and updates
- Implement initiatives to fulfill the annual optimization plan with monthly changes and updates
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of engineering production metrics
- Analyze and develop KPIs to enhance our understanding of our existing processes, technologies, headcount, etc to drive improved company and individual employee performance
- Ensure process documentation is routinely updated
Qualifications-
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, licensed PE preferred
- 5+ years of applicable industry and leadership experience • Strong knowledge in the engineering of pre-engineered buildings preferred
- Proven track record in managing an engineering team in a manufacturing environment
- Experience and proven ability to implement effective systems, processes, and metrics
- Entrepreneurial thinker, visionary with strategic planning skills
- Strong language, mathematical, and reasoning skills
- Proficient with Office Productivity Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn and use ERP systems • Valid driver's license and record of the appropriate type and class to operate company vehicles
