Job Description

A growing industrial manufacturer is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to produce high-quality, precision components in a low-volume, high-mix environment.

This is a hands-on role for a machinist who enjoys challenging setups, reading detailed prints, making adjustments at the machine, and taking ownership of part quality from first piece through final inspection.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate CNC horizontal lathes
  • Machine precision steel and industrial-metal components
  • Read blueprints, GD&T, tolerances, and work instructions
  • Select tooling, set work and tool offsets, and adjust cutting parameters
  • Make basic program edits and machine adjustments as needed
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision tools
  • Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, and machining issues
  • Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and housekeeping

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of CNC lathe or CNC turning experience preferred
  • Strong setup and operation experience on CNC lathes
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience making tooling, offset, and basic program adjustments
  • Strong precision-measurement and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and take pride in quality craftsmanship

Preferred Experience

  • Large shafts, gears, gearboxes, or heavy industrial components
  • Custom machining, job-shop, prototype, or low-volume/high-mix work
  • Steel, mining, oil and gas, power generation, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery applications
