Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator with an engineering foundation and a strong willingness to dive into the work — including making phone calls, coordinating with team members, and supporting the full estimating process. This role supports the preparation of competitive bids, collaborates with project management, and contributes to the overall success of our projects and client relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review bid documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope and requirements.

  • Work with senior leadership to determine profit percentages.

  • Collaborate closely with the project management and estimating team to ensure timely, competitive, and accurate estimate submissions.

  • Assist with the hand-off process to the assigned Project Manager upon project award.

  • Ensure that a complete estimate schedule is developed and aligned with the company-wide schedule.

  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors; evaluate their qualifications.

  • Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs) for assigned items on each estimate.

  • Develop and refine work methods with project managers, engineers, and others to maintain a competitive edge in all estimates.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings to evaluate opportunities for company fit and profit potential.

  • Represent the Company professionally in all internal and external interactions.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of previous estimating experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable making phone calls and proactively gathering information.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.

  • Experience with Hard Dollar estimating or similar estimating software preferred.

  • Familiarity with P6 Scheduling is a plus.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software is a plus.
