Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Drywall

Reports To: Project Manager

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Assistant Project Manager with experience using Plexxis software to join our team in the commercial drywall industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting project managers in the execution of drywall projects from start to finish, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Your familiarity with Plexxis software will play a key role in streamlining project management processes, including scheduling, estimating, tracking project costs, and managing resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Support: Assist Project Managers in the coordination and execution of drywall projects. This includes maintaining project timelines, tracking milestones, and addressing any project-related issues.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Assist in the preparation of project budgets, track costs, and monitor expenditures using Plexxis. Ensure projects stay within budget and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Resource Allocation: Collaborate with field supervisors and subcontractors to allocate resources effectively, ensuring project needs are met without delays or conflicts.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Assist in the creation and management of project schedules, ensuring that key milestones are met. Coordinate with teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Document Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders, ensuring all records are organized and easily accessible.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Keep stakeholders informed of project status, delays, or changes.
  • Problem Resolution: Identify potential risks and issues early on and work with the team to resolve them promptly to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all projects comply with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Assist in conducting safety meetings and site inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the commercial drywall industry or similar construction environments.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in using Plexxis software for project management, cost tracking, and scheduling. Experience with other construction management software is a plus.
  • Project Management: Strong understanding of project management principles and construction workflows. Ability to work independently while supporting the Project Manager.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Organization: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep track of important deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate issues and proactively resolve them to keep projects moving forward.
  • Education: A degree or certification in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
