Job Title: Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Company Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Estimator with extensive experience in estimating large-scale municipal projects, particularly those involving underground utilities, concrete structures, and roadway construction within congested city areas.
Job Description:
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for various infrastructure projects, including underground wet utilities, roadway construction, and concrete structures, with an emphasis on work in the public right-of-way. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of estimating software and the ability to handle complex projects in congested areas that require detailed traffic control planning and phasing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for underground utilities (water, sewer), roadway construction, concrete flatwork, concrete structures, and large subcontractor packages.
- Estimate municipal projects within public right-of-way, including but not limited to, underground utilities, earthwork, paving, and structural concrete.
- Use construction estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid, On-Screen-Takeoff, or similar tools to develop precise estimates.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to determine accurate labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Develop estimates for projects in congested city environments, considering traffic control, construction phasing, and public safety.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather the necessary data and ensure accuracy in estimates.
- Review historical data and project performance to improve cost accuracy and estimation practices.
- Work closely with the design team to ensure that the estimates align with the project scope and schedule.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously and prioritize based on project deadlines.
- Ensure all estimates meet industry standards, local codes, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong background in estimating municipal infrastructure projects.
- Significant experience estimating underground utilities (water, sewer), roadway construction, concrete structures, and asphalt paving.
- Expertise in estimating projects within congested city areas, with a strong understanding of traffic control planning and phasing.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid, On-Screen-Takeoff, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation techniques and methods.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
