Description

The Formulary Chemist will be responsible for new product development and the creation of chemical testing procedures to ensure quality control, assurance of existing products, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and test chemical compounds and formulations, applying professional judgment to evaluate and refine methods.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance quality, cost-effectiveness, and safety compliance.
  • Prepare and distribute laboratory reports detailing test results and analyses.
  • Maintain documentation for assigned projects and review reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to support product development and quality initiatives.
  • Operate, maintain, and test laboratory equipment, troubleshooting and recommending repairs as needed.
  • Draft standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with environmental health and safety compliance, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
  • Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of three years of experience in formulary chemistry.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Thorough understanding of chemical testing procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for drafting laboratory reports.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of desk and computer work.
  • Extended periods of standing in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Exposure to various chemicals and compounds.
