Senior Insurance Defense Attorney

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Insurance defense attorneys with experience handling employment-related claims, professional liability matters, or complex civil litigation are encouraged to explore this opportunity. This position offers the ability to work on sophisticated litigation matters while joining a practice that values attorney autonomy, client interaction, and long-term career growth.

The firm is open to candidates ranging from Senior Associate through Partner level, depending on experience, business development capabilities, and portable business.

Preferred Experience (Candidates from insurance defense firms are highly desired)

Qualified candidates should possess at least five years of experience with exposure to one or more of the following areas:

  • Insurance defense litigation
  • Employment Practices Liability (EPL) matters
  • Employment-related claims, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination
  • Professional liability / Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims
  • Directors & Officers (D&O) liability matters

Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload from inception through trial and resolution
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances
  • Develop litigation strategy and provide client counseling
  • Work closely with insurance carriers, businesses, and employers
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex litigation matters
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management efforts

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in Illinois
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Trial experience is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranging from $150,000 - $190,000+, depending on experience
  • Senior Associate through Partner-level opportunities available
  • Additional compensation available for attorneys with portable business
