Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Surety Producer to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing a portfolio of commercial surety clients, and serving as a trusted advisor to contractors and businesses seeking contract and commercial bonding solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in surety, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to cultivate lasting client relationships while partnering with surety underwriters to secure competitive bonding programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect, develop, and close new surety business opportunities with contractors and commercial clients.
  • Build and manage a profitable book of contract and commercial surety business.
  • Analyze financial statements, including working capital, net worth, cash flow, and profitability, to evaluate clients' bonding capacity.
  • Review contract documents, business plans, and project risks to provide strategic guidance to clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive surety submissions and negotiate favorable bonding terms with multiple surety carriers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, surety underwriters, and carrier partners.
  • Monitor clients' financial performance and work-in-progress schedules to proactively address bonding needs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the bonding process, providing timely communication and exceptional client service.
  • Stay current on market trends, underwriting guidelines, and industry developments within the surety marketplace.
  • Collaborate with internal account management and service teams to ensure a seamless client experience.

Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance License required (or ability to obtain promptly if permitted by state regulations).
  • 3–10+ years of experience in surety production, surety underwriting, brokerage, or commercial insurance focused on construction accounts.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business and managing client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of contract surety, commercial surety, and construction risk management.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit quality and bonding capacity.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and executive-level communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation or other industry certifications.
  • Established relationships within the construction or surety marketplace.
  • Experience working with regional and national surety carriers.
