We are a well-respected law firm located in the Kanas City Metro Area, providing a wide range of legal services with a focus on bankruptcy law. Our practice is committed to helping individuals and businesses navigate financial distress through compassionate and effective legal solutions. We are seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney with 3+ years of experience to join our dynamic and growing team.

As a Bankruptcy Attorney, you will be responsible for advising and representing clients in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters. This role involves managing all aspects of bankruptcy cases, including preparation, filings, hearings, and client negotiations. Experience in both consumer and business bankruptcy is preferred. 

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Advise clients on bankruptcy options, debt relief strategies, and potential outcomes.
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other required legal documents.
  • Appear at hearings and meetings of creditors, including 341 meetings.
  • Handle contested matters and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court.
  • Negotiate with creditors and other parties to resolve disputes.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tailored strategies for debt relief and financial recovery.
  • Keep up to date on changes in bankruptcy laws and rules in Missouri, with a preference for Kansas law as well.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates on case progress and advising on options.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active and good standing license with the Missouri State Bar (Kansas license is a plus).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in bankruptcy law, including consumer and business bankruptcy cases.
  • Strong knowledge of federal bankruptcy laws, with an understanding of local Missouri and Kansas bankruptcy rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
