A leading Utilities, Site & Civil Contractor in central and southwest Virginia is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager to oversee site‑civil projects, utilities work, and field operations. This role is ideal for a motivated self‑starter who can manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Manage heavy civil/site‑civil projects from start to finish
Oversee schedules, manpower, equipment, and daily site activities
Track changes, delays, and project impacts
Prepare owner change orders and monthly billings
Review subcontractor pay apps and vendor invoices
Perform material and quantity take‑offs
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes
Maintain estimating tools, spreadsheets, and databases
Coordinate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, field staff, and office teams
Requirements
6+ years of heavy civil or site‑civil construction experience (Virginia preferred)
Strong utilities construction background
Ability to read plans and specifications
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
Strong computer skills; Excel proficiency required
Estimating experience is a plus
