Quality Engineer - Aerospace in Quincy

Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance with aerospace and customer requirements throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This role works in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 standards and plays a key role in drawing review, inspection planning, First Article Inspection (FAI), and PPAP submissions. Strong expertise in GD&T and technical drawings is essential. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9100, and ISO 13485 quality management systems
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturability and inspection requirements
  • Balloon drawings, create inspection plans, and FAIR packages
  • Lead and prepare First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102 requirements
  • Prepare and submit PPAP documentation to customers as required 
  • Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues
  • Review nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support MRB activities 
  • Analyze quality data and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in the aerospace or regulated manufacturing industry
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 standards
  • Proven experience with drawing review, ballooning, and inspection planning
  • Extensive hands-on experience with FAI and PPAP submittals
  • Advanced understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aerospace OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
  • CQE, CQA, or other relevant quality certifications
  • Familiarity with statistical tools, SPC, and measurement system analysis (MSA)
