Position Title: Structural Steel Estimator

Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Remote (Work from home 2–3 days per week)
Compensation: Competitive salary + bonus + full benefits

Position Overview

We are seeking a Structural Steel Estimator to support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. This role will focus on reviewing drawings, performing material takeoffs, and developing pricing for structural steel packages related to fabrication and/or erection scopes.

This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing employees to work remotely 2–3 days per week, while collaborating with the team in the office for coordination and project review.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of experience estimating structural steel projects, with exposure to fabrication, erection, or both.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals packages

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents

• Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel members, connections, and misc. metals

• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers

• Develop labor and material cost estimates for fabrication and/or erection scopes

• Work closely with project managers, detailers, and fabrication teams to ensure accurate pricing

• Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and potential risks during the bid process

• Participate in bid reviews and pricing strategy discussions

• Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documents, and pricing history

• Assist with value engineering and alternate pricing when required

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience estimating structural steel or miscellaneous metals projects

• Experience estimating steel fabrication, erection, or both

• Strong understanding of structural steel drawings and specifications

• Experience performing material takeoffs and quantity calculations

• Familiarity with steel estimating or takeoff software is a plus

• Knowledge of steel fabrication processes and erection sequencing preferred

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
