The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and successful execution of multiple structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This role oversees project teams, coordinates with fabrication and field operations, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The ideal candidate has strong experience managing complex structural steel or misc. metals projects including fabrication, detailing coordination, and erection sequencing.
Manage multiple structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects simultaneously from award through completion
Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution strategies
Oversee project managers, project engineers, and support staff
Coordinate with detailing teams utilizing SDS/2, Tekla, or similar modeling software
Manage fabrication schedules and coordinate with shop operations
Work closely with field superintendents to ensure efficient erection sequencing
Maintain project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
Negotiate and manage subcontractor and vendor agreements
Review drawings, RFIs, change orders, and submittals
Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, and design teams
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards
Identify and mitigate project risks
10+ years of experience in structural steel or miscellaneous metals construction
Proven experience managing structural steel fabrication and erection projects
Strong understanding of steel detailing, shop drawings, and fabrication processes
Experience coordinating with modeling/detailing platforms such as SDS/2, Tekla, or similar
Excellent leadership and team management abilities
Strong knowledge of scheduling software and project management systems
Ability to manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and change management
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
