Job Title: Project Manager – Structural Steel

Job Summary:
The Project Manager – Structural Steel will oversee the full lifecycle of fabricating and erecting structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joists, and metal deck for assigned projects. This role involves managing all project phases, from planning to closeout, ensuring safety, quality, and budget goals are met. The ideal candidate brings experience in steel construction and strong technical skills to coordinate teams and deliver successful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage steel detailing, surveying, and resolution of design conflicts.
  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine material needs and project scope.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules from preconstruction to project closeout.
  • Prepare and execute project documents, including submittals, contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, vendors, and contractors for seamless project execution.
  • Develop schedules of values for accurate billing.
  • Maintain organized project records in both hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Collaborate with contractors, managing steel packages through the BIM process.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and budgetary standards.
  • Conduct field measurements and verify adherence to project specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Prior project management experience in steel fabrication and erection (strongly preferred).
  • 2-4 year post-secondary degree (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
  • Knowledge of Tekla, Trimble, or Powerfab programs (a plus).
  • Strong understanding of steel construction materials, methods, and tools.
  • Familiarity with safety, quality, and cost control standards.
