Job Description

Employment Law Associate

Ditch the Burnout, Keep the Career: Employment Law Associate (Public Entity Focus)

*Confidential application process*

Are you an Employment Law Associate who loves the complexity of the law but finds yourself staring at a 2,200-billable-hour requirement with a sense of impending dread?

We are partnering with a premier firm in Concord, CA, that has figured out the "secret sauce" to legal practice: high-stakes work doesn't have to come at the cost of your personal life. They are looking for a sharp, empathetic Employment Law Associate to join a team that values quality of life as much as quality of counsel.

Why This Role is Different

  • The "Goldilocks" Billable Goal: While other firms are pushing for 2,000+, our client maintains a strict 1,800-hour yearly requirement. This is a firm that actually wants you to use your vacation days.
  • Ultimate Flexibility: Whether you thrive in a collaborative office environment, prefer the quiet of a home office, or want a hybrid mix of both—they are open to whatever makes you most productive.
  • The Mission: You won't just be defending corporate bottom lines. You’ll be working extensively with Public Entities, navigating the unique intersection of administrative law and labor relations that keeps our communities running.

The Work You’ll Do

As an Employment Law Associate, you will be the "boots on the ground" for a variety of public and private sector clients. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Providing proactive advice and counsel on wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, and employee discipline.
  • Conducting high-level workplace investigations.
  • Defending clients in litigation, including FEHA/Title VII claims and administrative hearings.
  • Drafting and revising complex employment agreements and handbooks.

What You Bring to the Table

  • JD and California Bar Membership (active and in good standing).
  • 2–8 years of experience in Employment Law.
  • The Public Entity "Bonus": If you have experience navigating the Government Code, PERB, or Brown Act, you’re already at the top of our list.
  • A "Counselor" Mindset: You enjoy being a strategic partner to your clients, not just a document processor.
  • Self-Sufficiency: Especially for remote/hybrid candidates, we need someone who can manage their caseload with autonomy and precision.

The Perks

  • Competitive salary structure with transparent bonus tiers.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (Health, Dental, Vision, 401k).
  • A culture that genuinely treats "Work-Life Balance" as a core value, not a buzzword.
  • The chance to live and work in (or near) beautiful Concord, with easy access to the Bay Area without the downtown SF stress.

Please send your confidential resume to Spencer McAdoo at spencer.mcadoo@gogpac.com or call/text 605-705-2943 to discuss this in more detail.
